We had a very successful and informative Annual General Meeting , where we discussed our achievements and challenges in the past year and our plans and goals for the future.

We also had the honour of hosting Peter Brown, Kent Representative from the British German Association (BGA), as our guest speaker.

Peter gave us an insightful presentation on the history and current state of town twinning in Kent. He highlighted the Kent towns that have town twinning relationships with Germany, which include Ashford (Bad Münstereifel), Bromley (Neuwied), Gravesham (Neumunster), Sevenoaks (Rheinbach), Tonbridge (Heusenstamm), Tunbridge Wells (Wiesbaden) & Whitstable (Borken & Grabow).

Peter addressed some of the challenges and opportunities that town twinning faces. He said that town twinning can help to maintain and strengthen the ties between Britain and Germany, especially at a grassroots level. He said that town twinning can also contribute to regional development, tourism promotion and civic engagement. He encouraged us to continue supporting town twinning initiatives in Kent and to explore new ways of collaborating with our German friends.

We would like to thank Peter for his enlightening talk, Ashford Borough Council for use of the Chamber, and The Little Teapot who provided a delicious and healthy buffet. We would also like to thank our members and supporters for their interest and involvement.
